I find painting to be like using words. Can one ever use enough of them to exhaust the possibilities of ideas?
For millennia, people have been painting myriads of ideas–real depictions of common life, expressions of imagined life, symbolism, life within the imagination, historical accounts, dreams, etc.
I love painting people since they bear the image of God like no other thing. But, I also like anthropomorphizing animals since it allows for a special kind of symbolism–saying things by symbolic depictions that I can’t quite articulate well enough in the realm of classical or Neo-classical realism. I haven’t figured out where to land yet, so enjoy the ride with me.
