“Carpe diem! Seize the day! Make the most out of this one fabulous day that is given to you! The irony of this is that, in musical terms, one cannot squeeze more into a space of time than the measured unit of time itself; one cannot cram an entire symphony into a measure. I thought of “Le Penseur” by Auguste Rodin, how he captured the idea of contemplation with a gesture that signified the idea of pondering, a sort of circumspection mixed with wonder. So, I decided to use that sort of movement along with my grandmother’s baking timer, with musical terminology floating in the background via decoupage.”
